Run of show

At an event, the run of show is the minute-by-minute schedule of everything that happens, from doors to the last cue, and who is responsible for each part.

Also called: ROS, run sheet, show flow

What's in a run of show?

Each line has a time, what happens, where it happens and who owns it. A conference run of show lists speaker walk-ons, mic changes and slide cues. A wedding one lists the entrance, toasts, first dance and last call.

Run of show vs BEO

The BEO is the agreement with the venue: menu, room and staffing. The run of show is the live script for the day. It's built from the BEO's timings, then adds the cues the venue doesn't need to know about.

Who uses it on the day?

The event coordinator or producer keeps the master copy and calls each cue. Production assistants, stagehands and AV crew work from it. Floor staff usually get the parts that affect them, such as when dinner service starts and when the bar closes.
