IMEX America packs 96,000 meetings into three days, and 2027 arrives two weeks sooner
More than 17,800 people and 6,000-plus buyers filled a Mandalay Bay floor about 5% bigger than in 2025. The Sept. 28-30, 2027 dates cut the planning window for exhibitors hiring booth crews.
IMEX America 2026 packed about 96,000 scheduled meetings into three days at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas on Oct. 13-15. More than 17,800 people attended the 15th edition, on a show floor about 5% larger than in 2025, Meetings Today reported.
That meeting count sets the pace of a booth day for the brand ambassadors, registration crews and booth staff who work the Las Vegas convention calendar. The next show comes sooner: IMEX America 2027 moves up to Sept. 28-30, about two weeks earlier than this year.
IMEX America 2026 attendance and meetings
The show ran under the theme “Design Matters,” with Smart Monday education on Oct. 12. The Incentivist reported the same headline totals and split the meeting count into about 82,000 one-to-one appointments and about 14,000 group and booth presentations. Most buyers came from close to home: about 70% were U.S.-based and 85% were based in North America, according to Meetings Today.
At the closing press conference, IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer described the mood on the floor, The Incentivist reported.
Despite some uncertainty in the wider world, there’s been a spirit of optimism across the show floor.
Local leaders marked the show’s 15th year in the city. Clark County presented IMEX leadership with a proclamation on opening day, and LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill said attendance has grown from about 7,000 to more than 17,000, FOX5 reported. Hill called IMEX “the Super Bowl of the meetings and trade show industry.”
Booth and hosting work scaled with the floor
A bigger floor means more stands to build, staff and run for three straight days. None of the coverage counts event staff directly, but the reported figures point to four kinds of work.
- Registration and badging
The hosted-buyer program of about 4,800 runs on set appointment times, so badge pickup and check-in have to keep pace with each meeting block.
- Booth staff and brand ambassadors
About 14,000 group and booth presentations need people to greet visitors, scan leads and keep each session on time.
- Appointment hosts
One-to-one meetings ran back to back for three days. A late or missed slot is a lost conversation for the exhibitor.
- Evening events
Meetings Today counted more than 200 receptions in the building every evening, with more than 20 Mandalay Bay event managers assigned to the show.
For exhibitors, that makes the booth team part of the meeting program, not decoration around it. Trade-show, registration and brand ambassador work in the city is listed under Las Vegas event shifts.
Las Vegas convention attendance rose in September
The city’s own data showed the same tilt toward business travel in the month before IMEX. Convention attendance reached about 436,200 in September 2026, up 1.8% from a year earlier, while total visits were nearly flat and room rates fell, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority report as reported by News 3 LV.

One month is not a trend. As of Oct. 29, the LVCVA’s October report, which will cover IMEX week, has not been released. For staff who book most of their Las Vegas shifts around conventions, though, business travel was the side of the market that grew.
IMEX America 2027 dates: Sept. 28-30
The 16th IMEX America returns to Mandalay Bay on Sept. 28-30, 2027, with Smart Monday on Sept. 27, according to IMEX’s participant information. TSNN reports the 2028 show is set for Sept. 26-28.
The 2027 show opens about two weeks earlier in the calendar than this year’s. That shortens the planning window for anyone building a booth team.
What to do before the 2027 show
- Exhibitors: plan booth staffing in summer, not fall. Size the team to your meeting calendar as well as your booth footprint.
- Brand ambassadors and registration staff: hold Sept. 27-30, 2027. Hosted-buyer and appointment programs run on tight schedules, so list IMEX or similar trade-show experience on your profile.
